iPod in the car

CDCX504MP_M.jpg My search for a way to play my iPod in the car has resulted in a new head unit. I tried the iTrip FM unit but while it worked well there are too many stations in San Diego and depending on where I was in town I would need to retune the station.

The Alpine solution looked quite nice but the head unit is at least $200 and then the module is another $100 not to mention labor to install all of it. I also looked at some sony units but they only had the AUX input in the rear so you needed to have the cables hand out somewhere.

The sales person at Best Buy suggested this Aiwa which turns out has the AUX input right in front. So far it is working quite well but then I have only used it on the way home. This is by far the most affordable solution to get good high quality sound from your iPod in the car. If you are lucky enough to find a cheaper way with a factory unit you are lucky. For me this seemed like the best way to go.

Of course I am still drooling over the Alpine system since it is very nice looking.
