Reading a post Mac-Mike made recently on his blog it started me thinking about what makes me use my Palm device on my Mac vs. my PC. I have to say the main reason has to be the ease of use when using bluetooth with my mac versus using bluetooth with the PC. Also the integration of all the apps on the mac makes things nice.
This is also one reason why I choose Palm over the PocketPC. The Palm platform for me just seems to be much smoother than the experience that I have had with my PocketPC units. I have had far fewer sync problems using my Palm than I ever had with the PocketPC.
It makes me wonder about the PocketPC platform since I know that the mac following is small but it seems to me that a PDA is just the sort of thing that many mac users would be into. I would have thought that Microsoft would have some out with something by now to open up that market to them. It also seems to me that a Mac Activesync would be more integrated with the apps as this is something that I think Mac users have come to expect.
Mike's post seems to point out the problems that many have with using a third party app to get things to work. It just doesn't work as smoothly as one would expect or hope. Maybe someday they will make a mac activesync..
In the end I would have to sum up the mac vs pc usage as a question of ease of use. The Mac just seems easier to handle. In the same light when using the PocketPC vs the Palm on the Mac.. palm currently wins.
